The room was cozy but noisy at night from racing cars outside.

I visited the 1815 Hotel due to its close proximity to the Battlefield of Waterloo. Indeed, it lies on the battlefield itself so it was ideal for the purpose of viewing Waterloo and related sites. This hotel was very cheap, which is a major issue for someone on a tight budget. The carpark was easy to get into and turn around in, which was important considering the amount of driving we needed to do on this trip. While this was basic no frills accommodation, it was ideal for its location and price.
The breakfast was rather poor at this hotel. While we expected self-service for budget accommodation, hot water and coffee was inadequately supplied and we usually had to request provision. Although this is a small hotel, some items of food were in short supply or had run out and, considering the small number of guests, this should not have happened. We also hoped to post postcards through the hotel, which wasn't possible - usually a standard service in Belgium. Fuirthermore, a big fuss was made over leaving our room key for cleaning purposes (and presumably security reasons) but our room was only cleaned once. This was annoying. The bathroom door knobs were damaged and the extrator fan was broken, which was a big issue for using the shower in a room that doesn't have a window that opens.

Wonderfully situated for exploring the historical sites of Waterloo.
Our bedroom faced the road which was quite noisy at night.

Chose this hotel for its proximity to the Waterloo battlefield. The superior double room offered fine views across the battlefield. A very comfy bed enhanced the restful nights. Staff members were genuinely lovely, always eager to assist. Dinner and breakfast were highlights, particularly the delicious food options and the all-you-can-eat breakfast where the pastry selection stood out. No air conditioning in the room was great. Missing milk and tea spoons were minor inconveniences that could easily be remedied. The charm of being steps away from historic sites was nice.

It's location. The room was a good size too.
The view from the window wasn't great, but it was quiet.

Charming, charming, charming
The location is really good, providing direct access to the iconic battlefield sites like La Haye Sainte and the Lion's Mound. I thoroughly enjoyed the spacious room with refreshing views of the battlefield, paired with excellent WiFi connectivity. Every breakfast started with good choices, from creamy scrambled eggs to fresh pastries that set a perfect tone for the day.
do recommend 😊❤️

The location, in the middle of the countryside, but close to the main roads which pass the battlefield of Waterloo, and within sight of the main related museum, was incredibly good if you have an interest in that history. If not, well it's still an excellent little hotel, and I was very happy with everything.

The location was perfect for visiting the Waterloo sights, with attractions like the Lion's Mount and the Museum just a short walk away. The breakfast was quite good, and my room, while small, was comfortable enough for a solo traveler. the bathroom could have used a refresh, as the shower had some maintenance issues that needed addressing.

The hotel is compact but comfortable and offers a very good quality service. It is located in the countryside -very close, in fact to a historical monument and at the same time is close enough to Waterloo centre and not too far from Brussels.
Just the fact that it does not have a lift. If you have luggages that are somewhat heavy this could be an inconvenience. Our room was however on the first floor and so it was not much of an inconvenience.
